The most revered of Chinese Goddesses, Guanyin may have originated as a Taoist Deity, now assimilated into Buddhist practice. Guanyin is the Goddess of mercy and compassion. Much like Taoist philosophy, her strength is found in fluidity, in softness, in yielding. She is sometimes depicted riding a dolphin, representing her connection with nature and all that flows. It is said that Guanyin will continue to watch over the Earth as long as there is suffering to be tended. Pray to Guanyin in times of your own suffering, or when you are seeking to offer mercy and compassion to others. Rhodonite and moonstone represent literally "Kuan (Earth)" and "Yin (female life force)". Both stones help to balance the emotions and look with kindness on others.
